August 02, 2005 02:21 PM Eastern Time BERKELEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 2005--Cantaloupe Systems Corporation, a developer of wireless M2M systems for the retail vending industry, announced that it has received M2M Magazine's prestigious Gold Value Chain Award. From hundreds of nominees, a panel of highly respected industry analysts judged Cantaloupe's SEED(TM) Platform the most innovative and successful adoption of M2M technology in the Retail category. The award was based on Cantaloupe's ability to address and solve problem issues of two of its largest customers; Frito-Lay Inc of Dallas, Texas and North County Vending of Vista, California. Frito-Lay was interested in improving its data collection and market analysis capabilities. North County wanted to implement a "pre-picking" system by which products for delivery are pre-sorted to reflect the restocking needs of each of its machines. North County also wanted to increase machine uptime by finding a way to dynamically schedule deliveries based on need rather than using a fixed schedule and, it wanted a way to enforce cash accountability. By employing the SEED(TM) Platform, both Frito-Lay and North County were able to make dramatic strides in meeting their stated objectives. For example, North County had an increase of 32% in money collected per stop, which it attributed to a significantly more efficient operation which included; increased machine uptime, better servicing, and always having the products available that were most wanted by customers. The SEED(TM) Platform is comprised of a series of wireless devices placed in vending machines. The devices collect information from the machines and wirelessly transmit the data to Cantaloupe's Data Storage Center where it is encrypted and maintained for vendor access and analysis. Mr. Anant Agrawal, Cantaloupe's President and co-founder had this to say about the award, "We are honored and proud to have Cantaloupe Systems recognized by M2M Magazine. The vending industry has been stagnant in terms of adopting new data technologies. It has been rewarding to see operators throughout the country use SEED(TM) to realize the power of dynamic data collection. This award is a testament to the strength of the SEED(TM) platform in providing positive value to the vending industry." About Cantaloupe Cantaloupe Systems Corporation, headquartered in Berkeley, California, is the leader in developing complete wireless M2M applications for vertical markets. Their unique system of remote monitoring for vending machines, known as SEED(TM), has been successfully used by vending manufacturers and operators nationwide.
